A work-related post

It was not a good weekend for my school/district.
Our district spokesman passed away on Sunday. They haven't released cause of death, but he was only 34. I met him - or was in the same room with him - once, last year after there had been a shooting in the neighborhood. But his name was well known because he was the PR guy and, well, because a lot of teachers were a bit miffed that the district was paying him six-figures to be a part-time spokesperson when hundreds of teachers were being laid off. That said, I don't know anyone who had anything against him personally, and all you can do is pray for his family during this terrible time.
We also found out at a school meeting today that one of my co-workers' mother passed away over the weekend as well. Apparently she had been ill for some time and it wasn't a big surprise, but nevertheless it's not something you want to hear about, especially during the holidays.
But the worst piece of news was that another co-workers' daughter was killed last night in a car accident. She was 18 and was about to start Jr. College. I don't really know what else you can say other than what a terrible tragedy it is. I never met her, but her dad is a fantastic guy, my go-to person when I have a question for his grade level, and it just kills me to think of what he and his family are going through right now.
So, if you think about it, add Laurie, Bev, Jim and their families to your prayers tonight.
