enough to make you sick

Charming. The respect for life found is cesspools like this is just heartwarming, isn't it?
Obama:
Awesome! I guess he'll waste no time in condemning the entire practice! Right?
I'm waiting for the outrage, folks.
...
Yup. Still waiting.
ETA: I just need to make one more point before I head off. That baby was born alive. And yes, the fact that it was born alive was a screw-up, a fact which by itself is sickening. But 23 weeks is, by my accounting, one week away from the all-important third trimester. That baby was born alive. Had it been allowed to develop naturally, there is every reason to believe that it would have been born alive. In either case, medical attention could have sustained it as surely as it could sustain the life of, say, a person injured in a car accident.
If you withheld such life-saving treatment from that person you would rightly be called a murderer.
This baby was not an anonymous collection of cells. It was 3 months away from a birth and a life and instead this selfish bitch, this so-called 'mother', who "concluded she didn't have the resources or maturity to raise a child", decided instead to take that life away.
Obviously the actions of this clinic are especially disgusting and I hope the cretin responsible is tried for murder. But honestly I can't see what he did as being any worse than what the 'mother' did, and she's being played up as a victim.
Eighteen and pregnant, Sycloria Williams went to an abortion clinic outside Miami and paid $1,200 for Dr. Pierre Jean-Jacque Renelique to terminate her 23-week pregnancy.
Three days later, she sat in a reclining chair, medicated to dilate her cervix and otherwise get her ready for the procedure.
Only Renelique didn't arrive in time. According to Williams and the Florida Department of Health, she went into labor and delivered a live baby girl.
What Williams and the Health Department say happened next has shocked people on both sides of the abortion debate: One of the clinic's owners, who has no medical license, cut the infant's umbilical cord. Williams says the woman placed the baby in a plastic biohazard bag and threw it out.
Charming. The respect for life found is cesspools like this is just heartwarming, isn't it?
Obama:
"We know there is no God who condones the killing of an innocent human being."

Date: 2009-02-06 06:57 am (UTC)I have a friend who works as a childbirth/lactation coach. She usually has problems with expectant mothers/nursing mothers who have had previous abortions--they start out emotionally detached, unhealthily so, from their bodies and the babies growing inside them, sometimes even after the baby is born. They can't connect, because if they do they have to admit to themselves that they ended the life, all the future possibilities, of a fetus/infant just like the one they're carrying. Then they get attached to the infant, but have to deal with that, and it can be devastating to them. Not every one follows that pattern, certainly, but ...

Date: 2009-02-06 03:44 pm (UTC)All of them who were involved in this murder- the lot of 'em- I hope they burn in hell. And I pray that child is safe in the bosom of her heavenly father.
Safe, legal, "medical procedure," my ass. It's still murder, on either side of the cervix.

Date: 2009-02-06 06:21 pm (UTC)But it seems to me that I read (and I don't have time to look it up right now) that Obama voted in the Illinois legislature to let babies die if they happen to survive the murder attempt, so I don't expect much in the way of outrage from him.
