Dear Stargate fan,

Yep, we've just released a new Stargate Atlantis novel.

STARGATE ATLANTIS: Exogenesis, written by Sonny Whitelaw & Elizabeth
Christensen, is an eco-thriller which follows the team as they attempt to
save Lantea, the Atlantis homeworld, from total destruction.

The book is available now in the United States, the UK and the rest of the
world from our website. It will also be available from book stores soon.

Hmm... an eco-thriller by Sonny Whitelaw.

Um...

I say no.

Oh no, the "official novels". I never know whether to take information from there as canon or not, like if "Lantea" is officially the planet's name. I always figured they pulled "Lanteans" out of AtLANTis.

I've seen Lantea a couple different places; I sort of took it that it was a nickname of some kind ;) Anyway, this author's books in the past... well, I've always inevitably regretted buying them, and reading them. They're very clunky, and it makes me wonder why Fandy, the fan-initiated publishing company, keeps getting her to write books.

Oh well. I won't be making that mistake again.

I read one of the SG-1 ones and went "this was a horrible waste of money!".

They should recruit online - heaven knows there's better fanfic writers.

The irony? They did recruit online for the SG-1 books, received 200+ submissions, and then pretty much left all the submitters in limbo. Most are still waiting for the 'Sorry, your story idea didn't make the cut' mail.

That was two years ago.

Then... they suck. :-(

Yeah, and even knowing that I was still pretty bummed that, when they announced that there would be SGA books, they immediately came out and said they *wouldn't* be taking submissions, that they would just be going with published authors. And Heaven knows there are plenty of published authors out there, like Whitelaw, that are darned near unreadable. Bleh.

I really wanted to support Fandy in the beginning, because I was so sick of the previous published novels, and I knew and liked the people involved. But when you're paying $8 for a paperback, plus shipping...
