My bro and I spent about a half hour in the backyard, braving possible West Nile virus to watch the meteor shower. Supposedly tonight and tomorrow night are the peak times, but what we saw wasn't as impressive as last year. Oh well. It's still kind of neat to be able to hang out in the darkness, staring up at the sky, getting dizzy with your dog wondering what the hell his humans are doing now.
As far as the whole mosquito thing goes... I guess I'm lucky to be heading to the desertday after tomorrow.

Oh well... I just remember the year after Swift-Tuttle made its fly-by, we drove up to the mountains to the east of here, along with what appeared to be half the people in the Seattle area. All of the back country roads were lined with cars... I suspect the Sheriff's Department was freaking out a bit over all the people, and I remember Sheriff's cars zipping up and down the road with lights flashing, all evening.
But wow... what a show that year!
