Hysterical article on Slate about the wussification of vampires in pop culture, culminating with Twilight:

Vampires Suck
Actually, they don't. And that's the problem.
By Grady Hendrix
Last week at Comic-Con, the big story wasn't comic books—it was vampires. Some 2,000 young women set up a tent city outside the San Diego Convention Center on Tuesday, sleeping rough so that they could attend the Thursday panel on New Moon, the upcoming sequel to vampire blockbuster Twilight.
It's just another sign of the massive popularity of vampires. Yet, like many people who acquire mega-celebrity, the vampire has developed an eating disorder. Read the books. Watch the movies. You'll see vampires who manage nightclubs, build computer databases, work as private investigators, go to prep school, lobby Congress, chat with humans, live near humans, have sex with humans, and pine over humans, but the one thing you won't see them do is suck the blood of humans.
Read the whole thing.

Jun. 3rd, 2009 09:42 pmWhenever I see the commercials for Transformers 2, I think omg geeze CGI pr0n *rolls eyes*
But -- I can't help it, Shia LaBeaouf is just so damned cute. And I mean cute in that when I see him, I think of this rather than this.
And speaking of *eyerolls*, that FOX show 'Mental' looks incredibly, incredibly annoying. Like House without Hugh Laurie's charisma. And I don't even watch House, because it looks, um, annoying.

Supernatural
Apr. 5th, 2009 12:16 amI've never watched the show on TV, and the propensity of the fanbase to slash the main characters has always grossed me out, but I've decided to give Supernatural a try.
( Pilot )
Okay, so that was kind of predictable, but not bad. Will keep dling.

lazy Saturday channel-changing
Sep. 27th, 2008 11:40 amPower Rangers: Jungle Fury?
Seriously??
ETA: Wow, ten-plus years and this show has not changed in the least. Except now they're white rhinos and purple cougars and stuff instead of dinosaurs.
Is it sad that I totally remember the original cast? Jason (red), Billy (blue), Trini (yellow), Zack (black) and Kimberly (pink). Oh, and Tommy (green/white). *looks dreamy at the memory of Tommy*

and now for your viewing pleasure
Sep. 7th, 2008 09:02 pmI've gotten out of the habit of watching certain TV shows on certain nights, so I'm making myself a helpful schedule.
Monday
8pm, FOX: Terminator: SCC (9/8) -- Dollhouse at midseason
8pm, CBS: Big Bang Theory (9/22)
830pm, CBS: Two and a Half Men (9/22)
9pm, NBC: Heroes (9/22)
Tuesday
9pm, FOX: Fringe (9/9 - 8pm 2-hour premiere)
Wednesday
8pm, FOX: Bones
8pm, ABC: Pushing Daisies (10/1)
Thursday
8pm, CBS: Survivor (9/25)
930pm, NBC: The Office (9/25)
Friday
8pm, FOX: Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?
10pm, NBC: Life (previewing on 9/29)
There's other stuff I might give a shot at, but these are the shows I want to make sure I see. Fringe and Dollhouse are the only new shows I plan on bothering with... The Mentalist and My Own Worst Enemy and Eleventh Hour all look like your standard "won't last the season" shows... but then, I thought that about Chuck, too.
Am I missing anything?
