As a Liberal, I get what you're saying and appreciate it. Although I'm for mostly all of those things you listed you were against (or rather, variations on those things ;)), I had the same attitude with Bush: I didn't like a lot (most) of his policies, and I didn't want to see them enacted. But I did have a firm wish for him to do well as the leader of the country (although I never really felt like that wish was granted). I'm sure I'll feel the same way about Obama (albeit, less passionately). At this point, I don't want an ultra-anything President: I want someone who will listen to both sides equally, and do his best to make the best decisions for the country as a whole. If that means he has to abandon some of liberal ideas (including those for which I lobby), then so be it. I can deal with it, as long as he can do it ethically and adequately communicate why he's doing it. Whether Obama can do that or not remains to be seen, but I'm optimistic. :)

So! What are we Liberals going to complain about now that there's no Bush?! :D
