Residents Near Knightsen Evacuated
KNIGHTSEN, Calif. (KCBS) -- Contra Costa authorities have evacuated residents in a 1-mile radius around Broadway in the unincorporated town near Oakley, said sheriff spokesman Jimmy Lee.
A resident discovered what appears to be dynamite near his home around 1:30 p.m., Lee said.
People in the immediate vicinity have been told to head to Delta Vista Middle School on Frank Hengle Way near East Cyprus Road while the bomb squad is dispatched.
An automated emergency telephone alert was sent to 220 households advising them of the evacuation, Lee said.
They're saying on the police channels that there's like 5 minutes left on the timer.
