I realize that I have been remiss in updating my reading list.
I realized that because I was in B&N tonight. You know, I always here that people don't read anymore, and like .0006% of Americans have a book in their house (ok not really) but B&N is always doing a brisk business.
1. Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier
2. The Princess Bride by J. Morgenstern (abridged by William Goldman) [x]
3. So You Want to be a Wizard by Diane Duane [x]
4. General Winston's Daughter by Sharon Shinn [x]
5. The Lions of Al-Rassan by Guy Gavriel Kay [x]
6. Jumper by Steven Gould [x]
7. A Great and Terrible Beauty (Gemma Doyle Trilogy, Book 1) by Libba Bray [x]
8. Black (Circle Trilogy, Book 1) by Ted Dekker [x]
9. Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson (Starcatchers Trilogy, Book 1)
10. Rebel Angels (Gemma Doyle Trilogy, Book 2) by Libba Bray [x]
Yes I have been reading a lot of trilogies.
The Gemme Doyle books are YA and so a little white bread but the second book made things much more interesting and Gemme/Kartik WOO. It's a little overt with the GIRL POWRRRR message but eh. The Peter books -- yes, that's Peter as in Peter Pan and that's Dave Barry as in Dave Barry. It's sort of a prequel to... well, not so much Barrie's Peter & Wendy, because there are significant differences, and it's not really Disneyfied, but somewhere in the middle. It's interesting and cute and also YA, obviously, but somehow because of the subject matter it seems less obvious.
The Circle Trilogy is... weird. Interesting, but weird, and the author's writing style is a little clunky. I'll probably get the second one eventually.
So at the bookstore I bought:
The Sweet Far Thing (Gemma Doyle Trilogy, Book 3) by Libba Bray
Peter and the Shadow Thieves (Starcatchers Trilogy, Book 2) by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson
Polaris by Jack McDevitt
The last one I've never heard of, never heard of the author, but it looked kind of cool so I picked up it and paged through it there in the store along with three other books and (unlike the three other books) the writing grabbed me. So I bought it!
Hmm. Now, which one to read next...
