It's that time again...
Dec. 29th, 2006 01:03 amPossibly for the last time this year, since I don't forsee finishing my current book (Cetaganda by LMB) in the next few days.

The newest additions:
53. Brother Odd by Dean Koontz
54. Diplomatic Immunity by Lois McMaster Bujold ^
55. The Indian in the Cupboard by Lynne Reid Banks (just call me nostalgic. I was thinking of reading this aloud to my class, but I'm a little worried that the English terminology would get too confusing).
This year's books in review:
I think this year had me reading the most 'new' books since I learned how to read. By that I mean that I went through a rather long phase where all I really cared to do was reread books I knew were good because I'd already read them, such as Koontz. But the fact that he only writes about two novels a year (tsk tsk, so lazy) finally forced me to branch out a little.
Some were very enjoyable, such as the Vorkosigan Series, Moira J Moore's series, Icefire and Freefall by Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens, Summers at Castle Auburn by Sharon Shinn (I love anything by her, but especially the Samaria books and this one), and, surprisingly, the Stargate Atlantis novels by James Swallow and Martha Wells.
Some were good in a weird way, such as Anne Bishop and Gregory Maguire's, and The Time Traveler's Wife.
Some were duds, such as Princess at Sea (do not make me fall for a character and then make him the bad guy), SGA: The Chosen (need I say more?), Poison Study (interesting concept, lame execution), Path of Fate (forgetable), Cast in Shadow (way too convoluted and weird), and to a degree The Legend of Banzai Maguire (too romance-novelish). Overall, on a 1-10 scale, I would give this year a 7.
Now... on to 2007!
