Saddam Hussein Sentenced to Die for Crimes Against Humanity

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Saddam Hussein, the iron-fisted dictator who ruled Iraq for nearly a quarter of a century, was found guilty of crimes against humanity Sunday and sentenced to death by hanging.

The so-called Butcher of Baghdad, who was president of Iraq from 1979 until he was deposed by Coalition forces in April 2003, was convicted of the1982 killings of 148 Shiites in the city of Dujail

The visibly shaken former leader shouted "God is great!" as Iraq's High Tribunal announced his sentence.

And He's like, "Jeez, will you stop acting like you know me? Retard!"

From Lee, who doesn't care much for the Pres:
I’ll reiterate something I said a few weeks ago.  For all his faults, for all his incompetence, and for all the other crap he’s done, this should stand as Bush’s greatest achievement, his true contribution to mankind.  Saddam Hussein will soon face justice for his crimes, executed by the very people he oppressed for so long.  The world wanted Saddam Hussein gone for a long time, but only one president actually did it.

Meanwhile, the Democrats moonbat base shows their true colors:
Saddam is a far better man than George W. Bush ever thought about being.

By the way, Ramsey Clarke, you suck the big one.

I love TIME magazine's take on the whole thing: that it doesn't matter: Saddam is Sentenced to Death, and Iraq Shrugs

Yup. Look at all the shrugging:

What liberal media??

Okay, and this one's just funny -- Saddam's half brother and former chief of intel:

"But... but I like my head where it is!"

The books I've read since January 1, 2006 )

New since my last update on Sept 16:

40. Halcyon by James Swallow ***
41. The Decoy Princess by Dawn Cook ***
42. Princess at Sea by Dawn Cook * (I'm just going to pretend the sequel didn't happen)
43. Resenting the Hero by Moira J. Moore **
44. The Hero Strikes Back by Moira J. Moore ***
45. Freefall by Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens ***
46. The Legend of Banzai Maquire by Susan Grant *1/2
47. Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder *1/2
48. Summers at Castle Auburn by Sharon Shinn ***1/2
49. Mystic and Rider by Sharon Shinn **

Just for the heck of it, have rated them out of a max of four ****

Currently reading the sequel to Mystic and Rider, The Thirteenth House. It's... okay. You know, it's strange -- I absolutely adore Shinn's Archangel series, and I recommend it to people whenever I can, and Castle Auburn was very enjoyable. But these... eh. They're okay, but nothing special.
