I'm watching the Maersk Alabama putting into port in Kenya, and I'm wondering how long it'll be until we get a movie, either TV or otherwise, about how the crew retook the ship.

I guess it'll have a lot to do with the outcome of the captain being held hostage :(

I'm also sitting here wondering why the hell aren't these crews going through high-risk areas armed???

What do you think about the whole ransom situation?

Paying the ransom only encourages the pirates. And, from previous experience, there are no lives at stake.

If they start taking lives when their demands are not met, then I'd reconsider it.

I realize that PrezBO wants to "talk" (aka apologize for America. Again.) to whoever's in charge in Somalia. The problem is that there is no government in Somalia, just a bunch of warlords reenacting the Barbary Coast before the U.S Marines showed up and put a stop to the fun-and-games. Too bad PrezBo would never do a Teddy Roosevelt.

Much to the chagrin and sympathetic nature of the hubby and my mom, I screamed this at Fox News earlier today.

And I adamantly agree with [livejournal.com profile] seldear's comment.

Of course I'm the type who'd just look around, realize that there's actually 25 or so members of the crew (if that was anywhere close to the number) versus their 4, and just bombard them all anyway.
