Watched Drive tonight. It was... um. Yeah. Not what I was expecting for about the first half, which at first I didn't like, but then it became what I was expecting and totally lost my interest. Also Ryan Gosling... this was the first time I think I've ever seen him in anything. Kind of a poor man's Chris Evans, it seems, but maybe I need to see him in something where he plays a more likable character.
Speaking of movies, I'm getting rather excited about Odd Thomas. None of Koontz's books have ever been turned into halfway decent movies, and I don't know what his involvement has been in this or what he thinks of it, but I'm excited nevertheless. Anton Yelchin as Odd! Willem Dafoe as Wyatt Porter! And... okay, those are pretty much the only names I recognize. But, at least on imdb, they seem to have included all of the important characters... Harlo and Viola and Odd's mom and Karla... the only ones who seem to be missing are Shamus and Odd's dad which leave me to believe they cut those scenes. (Also, I'm a teeny bit concerned about the lack of a credit for Elvis. Although I suppose I could understand them cutting him for time reasons. But it would be sad.) The director did the Mummy movie and sequel, which were excellent, but he was also responsible for Van Helsing and the GI Joe movie, for which he ought to have been flogged. I guess we'll have to wait and see, since there's currently no U.S. release date.
