At this point, I don't want an ultra-anything President: I want someone who will listen to both sides equally, and do his best to make the best decisions for the country as a whole.

THAT I definitely agree with. The biggest complaint I had with the left in recent years wasn't the frustration with Bush -- I voted for the man and had my own frustrations with him -- it was what seemed an overwhelming hatred of the man for just being him. After a while, it seemed no one could really point out what was wrong, it was just OMG!BUSHSUCKS! Which, okay, he did in the final four. Course, I don't say this for the same reason as some of the lefties, but hey...

I will say this: I tend to lean more central than my dear host here. As such, I might even be persuaded to vote for a "D". But first they have to stop making me out to be an uneducated, Bible-thumping redneck, simply because I'm from a red state and tend to vote conservative. I realize it's not everyone -- but it's certainly the more vocal contingent. That does NOT win any votes.

Course, the Democrat party would have to field a candidate I actually liked and thought would serve well in a leadership position. But that's a whole 'nother can of worms. ;)
