I fell asleep last night reading about general relativity. I don't know if that's the reason that I had weird dreams last night, but boy I had some doozies.

  • The worst was that I dreamed it was the weekend. When my alarm went off I first wondered 'why did I set my alarm last night?' Then I realized it was Tuesday. NOOOOOO...

  • I dreamed that my brother wanted to change his major from graphic design to something involving music (he is not at all musical)

  • And I dreamed that I had sneaked into a taping of Bill Maher's show (ew) to see him doing bizarre things like pretending to shoot tater tots with a fake machine gun and giving beer to little children.

Hey, it's Pennsylvania primary day! Go Hill! Mwaha.

Ensuring that I am able to keep updating my reading list...

Today I got the latest shipment from Amazon:

Foundation by Isaac Asimov
Seeker by Jack McDevitt
Wild Seed by Octavia Butler
Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
Old Man's War by John Scalzi

Basically I've been feeling a little tired of fantasy and wanted to try something a little different on the sci-fi side. Asimov's is obviously a sf classic. Seeker is the third Alex Benedict novel by McDevitt... I really liked the first two. Wild Seed was recommended by Orson Scott Card in his book "How to Write Science Fiction & Fantasy", and Butler in general, for being very good at exposition that doesn't feel like info dump, something I always worry about in my own writing. Ender's Game is one of those books I always meant to read when I was younger and never got around to it, but since I really liked the non-fiction book mentioned above I decided to go for it. And Old Man's War... I've had it on my Amazon wishlist forever, and I actually don't remember how it got there to begin with, but I know I've seen it recommended many places and the premise sounds interesting.

I'm currently reading Jack Vance's Dying Earth stories when I feel like fiction, and Brian Greene's The Elegant Universe when I feel like nonfiction.
