First Hansel and Gretel commercial I've seen. Omg this movie looks so bad and I need it so much.

Movie night tonight was Crazy, Stupid, Love on [ profile] greenconverses's insistence. I'm still not much of a Gosling fan... )

The twist was good. The kids were cute. I think my favorite character might have been the crazy teacher ;)

ETA: Do people really spend that much time just hanging around, drinking at bars? I have a hard time imagining it. First, I would be mentally wrestling with how much I was spending on booze. Second, I would be way too self-conscious. Third, eventually I think I'd just be bored and start playing Words with Friends or something on my phone.

Les Mis

Just back from seeing Les Mis. As I said in my previous post, I knew nothing about it other than it was set in France (and, okay, I did recognize some of the songs from middle school choir). I'd come across a couple reviews which I perused but mainly went in without any preconceptions or expectations.

Not really spoilers, but still. )

For a six-thirty, Thursday-night showing, I wasn't expecting much of a crowd, but the theater was packed. The idiot behind me put his feet on the back of my chair a couple of times... I wouldn't care but these are rocker seats and I could feel the pressure. Thankfully he stopped the second time I pushed back. And the idiot next to me, who felt that he needed to comment on every single pre-movie commercial and who I was rather worried about continuing on into the movie, shut up once the lights went down. And it seemed like fewer morons than usual brought their little kids. Yay for parenting!

Also, I love this theater for how it's dealt with the cell phone issue, at least for full houses like this. The theater manager came in and, although he was very cheerful and friendly and polite, essentially stood there and waited for everyone to turn their phones off. Then he helpfully reminded the audience that ushers would be coming in several times during the movie 'to check on picture quality.' Then right before the movie started there was an on-screen message telling people that if they're caught with 'recording devices or cell phones' they 'may be asked to leave the theater immediately.' It's sad that we've had to come to that... but it was effective. I was sitting up near the top and didn't see anyone jacking around with a screen.

Spent the day running errands - food shopping, mainly, since I was almost out of milk and veggies - and then cleaning up downstairs. I decided to take advantage of a spurt of energy and put the Christmas stuff away, so my house pretty looks back to normal now. Cleaner, though.

As a reward, I'm thinking of going out and seeing Les Mis. I know next to nothing about it, other than the fact that there are a lot of French people involved, but I like musicals. I know no one in my family will want to see it, so there's no problem in having to time it with someone else. And there's a showing in about an hour. I'll ponder how much I feel like putting on real clothes :)

And speaking of movies, the Avengers Rifftrax came out today!

Argh! Why did Hulk wear thong today? Why does Hulk ever wear thong!?

Watched Drive tonight. It was... um. Yeah. Not what I was expecting for about the first half, which at first I didn't like, but then it became what I was expecting and totally lost my interest. Also Ryan Gosling... this was the first time I think I've ever seen him in anything. Kind of a poor man's Chris Evans, it seems, but maybe I need to see him in something where he plays a more likable character.

Speaking of movies, I'm getting rather excited about Odd Thomas. None of Koontz's books have ever been turned into halfway decent movies, and I don't know what his involvement has been in this or what he thinks of it, but I'm excited nevertheless. Anton Yelchin as Odd! Willem Dafoe as Wyatt Porter! And... okay, those are pretty much the only names I recognize. But, at least on imdb, they seem to have included all of the important characters... Harlo and Viola and Odd's mom and Karla... the only ones who seem to be missing are Shamus and Odd's dad which leave me to believe they cut those scenes. (Also, I'm a teeny bit concerned about the lack of a credit for Elvis. Although I suppose I could understand them cutting him for time reasons. But it would be sad.) The director did the Mummy movie and sequel, which were excellent, but he was also responsible for Van Helsing and the GI Joe movie, for which he ought to have been flogged. I guess we'll have to wait and see, since there's currently no U.S. release date.

Yippie, I found my MI:4 BluRay. Now I'm going to celebrate by watching it :D

In other news, I'm almost done with Christmas shopping except for one gift I'm waiting for the #$%^&* USPS to deliver and two gift cards I need to buy. I'm trying to work up the enthusiasm to go out today because I know the stores this weekend will be horrific.

Now on to the movie... )

Finally home after a long, long day and my copy of The Bourne Legacy was waiting for me on the doorstep.

This movie is Tiny!Clint-Approved

Is it wrong that I just kind of want to hunker down and cuddle my bluray and take a nap?

But nooooo... I have a vet appointment in an hour and a half. No time for napping. Or cuddling. Sigh.

I can never look at National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation the same way after realizing that Russ is Leonard from Big Bang Theory.

So I went with dad to see Skyfall today. Spoilery thoughts below.

Alli goes to the movies... )

For some reason the lj-cut function isn't working... at least not for me. The link works, though.
